  Richard Saliba was born in 1943 and studied painting at the Government School of Art, the Accademia di Belle Arti in Perugia and the Istituto Statale d'Arte in Urbino.
  
  His work has been exhibited in numerous solo and collective exhibitions over the past forty-five years both in Malta and abroad.
  
  His work is to be found in the collection of the MUZA, the Cathedral Museum, Mdina and in numerous public and private collections.

This is a view of Bingemma painted in early morning and showing the rich vegetation of the valley leading down to Mgarr. The beauty of this valley is not of the view itself but most importantly the landscape's natural state of preservation, where the only man made intervention is the solitary chapel that succeeds in enriching it rather than degrading it.
