• The Artist: LAWRENCE PAVIA
  
  Lawrence Pavia was born in 1959 in Malta and is the President and founder member of the Paola Heritage Society. He trained under artists Harry Alden, Anton Calleja and Giuseppe Schembri Bonaci. Lawrence is an art historian and has researched self-portraiture in Maltese Art and is continuously researching 20th Century British artists with a Maltese connection. In his art, Pavia is inspired by nature and also by man-made rejects and refuse. He admires the vibrancy in colours and tries to use the unnatural representation of colours in his depictions of nature or whatever it is that he is representing. During the last few years, Pavia has explored landscape using vivid colours on flat planes delineated with black lines and the creation of sculptures using prickly pear leaves and man-made rejects.
